Growing Up Spiritually: Chapters 3 & 4

Last week we left with an assignment to locate which stage we were in, baby, child, or manhood. Hopefully (unless you were born again very recently), no one is still in the baby stage. Many of us however, are still in the childhood stage. Let’s take a look at the characteristics of a child:

  1. Unsteady - not very dependable

  2. Curious - always getting involved in other people’s business, always reading to hear the latest gossip.

  3. Talkative - doesn’t know when to be quiet.

    1. Evil speaking - talking about and discussing other peoples faults and failures

    2. Vain speaking - always talking about yourself.

    3. Foolish speaking - not serious, telling bad/filthy jokes

All should desire to grow up spiritually. How do we know if we have matured into adulthood?

When we:

  1. Esteem earthly things lightly

  2. Are dead to criticism or praise

  3. Have the ability to recognize God at work

Faith enabled Moses to choose God’s will, for although he was raised as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, he refused to make that his identity, choosing instead to suffer mistreatment with the people of God, Moses preferred faith’s certainty about the momentary enjoyment of sin’s pleasures. He found his true wealth in suffering abuse for being anointed, more than anything in the world could offer him, for his eyes looked with wonder not on the immediate, but on the ultimate - faith’s great reward! - Hebrews 11:24-26 TPT

Let’s grow up, suit up, and win this war! Are you ready to continue to grow? No matter where you are at you can find an area that you need growth. During this book remain open to all that God is doing and what the Holy Spirit will reveal to you. I’m excited for next week and thanks for following along — make sure to share your journey in our facebook group.

Love,

Pastor Lisa
