2018
Each year we make New Year's resolutions to impact our physical and spiritual life. As we embark on 2018, the reason The Seed Church exists will remain the same.
We exist to teach people how to have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. We will accomplish this with our mission, to Encounter God, Equip ourselves, and Engage others.
“Encounter God, Equip Ourselves, Engage Others.”
Fasting
Fasting and prayer, if faithfully done will alter your life in ways that you have only dreamed of. We believe that fasting should be a way of life not something done for 21 days in January only.
We want to help you set the pattern for this by changing the way we fast this year. To get ourselves prepared to create a lifestyle of fasting, we will commit to fast for three consecutive days (Tue-Thur) every week in January.
Corporate Fast Schedule
January 2-4, 9-10, 16-18, 23-25
Select the type of fast that is best for you and your family to be able to focus on this strategic time of growing closer to God.
Types of Fasting
- Full fast – drink only liquids
- Partial fast – Sunrise to Sunset; You can select from three types of fasting- full fast, Daniel fast or give up at least one item of food.
- A modified fast – Also known as a “Daniel fast”, (the Daniel fast eliminated meat, bread, and sweets), this kind of fast eliminates certain food that are daily part of your diet.
Why Fast?
Fasting is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us for our daily lives. Through personal and corporate fasting, churches and individuals can become more sensitive to God’s voice, build a more intimate relationship with Jesus, experience direction and clarity, healing, release from the bondage of sin, restoration, financial blessings, and so much more!
Scripture Reading
"Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting" (Daniel 9:3)
"So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them...and God saw their works" (Jonah 3:5)
"Is this not the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?" (Isaiah 58:6)
"They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place though the apostles." (Acts 2:42,43)
Corporate Fasting
We, the church as the body of Christ directed by Jesus as the head, seek corporately to hear from god. It is a time directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit intended to yield spiritual growth and seek guidance for answered prayers. Jesus prayed and fasted in the wilderness before He began His ministry. The church of Acts continued the practice, and so do we. Stay tuned for more opportunities throughout the year for times of corporate fasting.
